Nice turnout this past weekend, nice to have John S back in the fold. Topics of discussion through the night included D&D (yes, that’s right, Dungeons & Dragons, and in fact several other role playing games were discussed too!), blogs, recent shows, and studio recording processes, among other things. Playlist below. The new HurryUp Shotgun is incredible: as Evan put it, “I hope these guys are able to quit their day jobs and just make music, because it sure sounds like that’s what they should be doing.” Really a great, great fucking album. My votes for songs of the night have to include at least one HUS track, “Swim” blew me away. Other highlights of the night for me: the Hellacopters song, totally scorching rock and roll; Evan’s brilliant choice of MBV for the female vocals theme – way to have the balls to play something NOT on Loveless!; and John’s early 70’s jam from Dust was awesome: the smart phone research done on the spot confirmed that one of the members of Dust later joined another band, and took the assumed name of…Marky Ramone!
