March 5 at the Garage

Alrighty then.  Query:  If you get four music-crazed guys aged 35-45, all with mostly similar counter-culture / independent tastes which revolve primarily around rock and roll, put them in the same room and have them start pulling chits from a hat, reading the themes written on those chits, and then playing a song (from their iPod or phone or the pile of LP’s available) which somehow matches the selected theme or their individual interpretation of it, how many Led Zeppelin songs will you hear in a 3 hour span?  The answer, not surprisingly, is the same  as the number of Replacements songs you will hear: Two.

Below is the playlist from Saturday March 5.  Watch for this feature to be expanded and improved with audio snippets, links, etc.  I gotta add that although “Ain’t Got Nothing (to Go Wrong)” by Dead Meadow is a great song, my choice of it as a selection fitting the heavy metal theme was misplaced.  Maybe I heard the “metal” part and my brain thought “Meddle” and so I played a song that sounded more like Pink Floyd than Heavy Metal.  Still rocked though.
